Marriage is one of God’s first and greatest gifts to humanity. When God looked out over His creation and saw the first man, He sensed that it would not be good for him remain alone. As a result, God made a woman in the likeness of man in order to compliment him in every way. From that point forward, husbands and wives have come together in marriage for the purposes of companionship and advancing God’s kingdom. God prizes marriage and so should we.
Doing so is much more difficult than we might imagine, though. We still long for companionship that honors God, but we are sinners who struggle to live out our faith at home. By most accounts, marriage today seems to be broken. There is hope, however. Though we are broken, the gospel still compels us to be Broken Together.
