Most people know very little about sheep and many have never met a real-life shepherd, yet, the Bible uses this agrarian image to describe the Christian’s relationship with Jesus Christ. With our Savior as the good Shepherd, we are the sheep that make up His flock. Even before Jesus walked the earth with His disciples, King David used this metaphor to celebrate and declare his unique connection to the God who placed Him on Israel’s throne. His insights broaden our understanding of what it means to follow, depend upon, and yield to our Lord. The covering of the Shepherd’s shadow guarantees direction, protection, and provision for all who follow Him. This series reveals why we all need this Shepherd and what His ultimate goal is for us.
